Neuschwanstein Castle you must visit

Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany.  The castle is located in the Bavarian Alps and was built in the 19th century by King Ludwig II. The castle is a mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture and is one of the most photographed castles in the world. Neuschwanstein is known for its fairytale-like appearance and stunning views of the surrounding Alps.

Neuschwanstein Castle is open to the public, and over 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer.  A winding uphill road leads from Hohenschwangau to Neuschwanstein Castle, passing the Alpsee lake. The journey takes about 20 minutes by horse-drawn carriage or by foot.

Visitors to the castle often say that it feels like they have stepped into a fairytale. Indeed, the castle has been used as a filming location for several movies, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Great Escape.

Some of the most beautiful highlights of the castle include the grand staircase, the Throne Room, and the Singer’s Hall. The grand staircase is a work of art with intricately carved details and stained glass windows. The Throne Room is an opulent room fit for a king with its gold leaf trim and lavish furnishings. The Singer’s Hall is a beautiful concert hall with perfect acoustics. It is said that Ludwig II himself would sit in this room and listen to the music of his favorite composer, Richard Wagner.

There are several other things to be sure not to miss when visiting Neuschwanstein Castle. First, be sure to take the time to explore the castle grounds. There are many photo opportunities here, including the castle bridge, the Marienbrücke, which offers stunning views of the castle and the valley below. Secondly, be sure to catch a performance of the Neuschwansteiner Musikanten, a Bavarian folk music group, that performs daily in the castle courtyard. Finally, be sure to enjoy a delicious meal at one of the nearby restaurants. The Zum Türken is a favorite among visitors and offers traditional Bavarian cuisine. You can also enjoy the panoramic views of the castle from the terrace.

Neuschwanstein Castle is open all year round, but the best time to visit is in the summer when the weather is warm and the days are long. Keep in mind that the castle is very popular, so it’s best to buy your tickets in advance. You can purchase tickets online or at the ticket office in the village of Hohenschwangau, where the castle is located.

There are several different tours you can take of the castle. The most popular tour takes about two hours and takes you through most of the castle. There is also a shorter tour that takes about an hour and a half, and a tour that only visits the castle chapel. You can also take a tour of the castle grounds, which takes about an hour and a half.
